Basketball star Ja Morant from the Memphis Grizzlies is in danger of failing in the playoffs of the North American professional league NBA.
The 22-year-old point guard injured his knee in the third game of the second round series against the Golden State Warriors and could now be absent on Monday evening (local time). “From what I’ve heard, it’s likely he won’t be able to play this game,” said Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins.
The injury happened after a direct duel with opponent Jordan Poole. “I don’t know what was going through his head. I won’t say he did it on purpose, but he held the leg. I just wonder what happened there,” Jenkins said.
Poole defended himself against the allegations: “I wanted the ball and I touched it. I didn’t want to hurt anyone, I’m not that kind of player.”
According to ESPN, the NBA will not conduct any further investigations into Poole.
The Warriors lead in the series in best-of-seven mode with 2-1 wins and are considered favorites with their superstar Stephen Curry.
