Ingo Freyer new coach in Oldenburg

Former national basketball player Ingo Freyer is the new head coach at EWE Baskets Oldenburg, bottom of the Bundesliga table.

The 50-year-old replaces Alen Abaz at Lower Saxony, who only replaced Mladen Drijencic as head coach in mid-January. Abaz will return to his position as an assistant with the North Germans.

For the first time since they were promoted to the Bundesliga in 2000, the 2009 German champions are in acute danger of relegation with just two wins from 16 games. In 2015, the baskets had become German cup winners.
