Bundesliga club Hertha BSC is still looking intensively for new reinforcements for the squad in order to get back on calm waters in the coming season. According to the latest media reports, a goalscorer from the Italian Serie A is said to have come into the focus of the Berliners.
Joao Pedro has scored an impressive 47 goals for Cagliari Calcio in the last three seasons in Serie A. In the past 2021/2022 season, he was unable to prevent the Sicilians from being relegated despite his 13 stalls, Cagliari was relegated to the second division by a narrow margin with one point too few.
Instead of going to Serie B, the 30-year-old, who still has a year’s contract in Cagliari, is now associated with a farewell abroad.
Noisy Italian media reports Joao Pedro is said to be an issue at Hertha BSC, which should seriously consider signing the goalscorer.
In addition to the club in the capital, VfL Wolfsburg is also being considered as a possible buyer for the striker, who scored a strong total of 71 goals in 218 appearances during his time in the Italian football league.
Will Hertha BSC pay ten million euros for Joao Pedro?
According to the Italian portal “calciocasteddu”, Joao Pedro is said to be available for ten million euros. Whether the Berliners, who recently had to budget significantly more with their expenses than when Lars Windhorst started investing three years ago, would afford a two-digit million transfer this summer is currently still open.
As it is also said, both Hertha and Wolves have already made an offer for Joao Pedro, who recently contributed a total of 17 points in Serie A. The player himself is said to be asking for a salary of 2.5 million euros per year.
At Hertha BSC he could succeed Ishak Belfodil, who is leaving the club after just one season.
