The upward trend of 1. FC Heidenheim in the 2nd Bundesliga has stopped for the time being.
The team of trainer Frank Schmidt did not get more than 0:0 at promoted Hansa Rostock after a largely uninspired performance. The FCH missed the leap back to relegation place three with 34 points.
After the last 15 points from six games, Heidenheim had to accept a slight setback, while the Hansa have been waiting for a win for seven games and cannot break out of the bottom of the table.
Three days after the Rostock Cup exit in the round of 16 at RB Leipzig, both teams started fighting. Rostock’s central defender Ryan Malone headed the first 100% goal chance from five yards out, the ball touched the outside of the post (19′). Only four minutes later, the dominant Hansa Damian Roßbach headed just over the crossbar after a free kick.
Even after the change of sides, Rostock was the more active team, but promising opportunities rarely came about.
