After just one year, second division soccer team Hannover 96 and managing director Robert Schäfer go their separate ways. As the Lower Saxony announced on Thursday, the 45-year-old’s contract will be terminated at the end of the season.
Schäfer, who had also worked at Fortuna Düsseldorf, Dynamo Dresden and 1860 Munich, was to lead the outsourced professional football GmbH after the 96 companies Stadion and Sales&Service according to the plans of the majority owner Martin Kind.
However, the 77-year-old entrepreneur was denied the necessary approval from the parent association.
