BVB attacker Erling Haaland is repeatedly brought up as the ideal successor to the aging Robert Lewandowski at FC Bayern. Munich’s club president Herbert Hainer has put a stop to considerations about a transfer of the Norwegian.
“We have Robert Lewandowski and I would be happy if he ended his career with us. And I’m convinced he can play at this level for a few more years,” said the Bayern boss on Sunday at “image” when asked about a possible Haaland commitment.
Lewandowski is tied to the Isar until 2023. However, the fact that he will remain in Munich beyond the end of his contract does not seem to have been decided yet. In recent years, the attacker has been repeatedly linked with Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Hainer already has a vision that includes not only Lewandowski but also Bayern icons Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller.
Hainer hopes for an extension with Bayern Munich legends
“I would be happy if all three would end their careers at FC Bayern. And I also firmly believe that this will happen. The three know what they have at FC Bayern. We know what we have in these three players,” explained Uli Hoeneß’s successor.
As the “Bild” writes, there are currently intensive discussions going on behind the scenes at the record champions about an extension with Neuer and Lewandowski. While those responsible are already in agreement with the goalkeeper, striker Lewandowski is aiming for a breakthrough in the spring.
However, little has been said about a possible expansion of the cooperation with veteran Müller, who, according to Hainer, “belongs to FC Bayern like the Frauenkirche belongs to Munich”.
The recent case of Niklas Süle showed that contract talks at FC Bayern can also fail. The centre-back will leave FCB in the summer after talks in January failed to reach a financial compromise.
However, Hainer is left cold by the national player’s decision. “He’s a very good player. We made him a good offer, he changed his mind,” said the former Adidas boss soberly.
