Grizzlies out of ten also knock down the Warriors

At home, in front of his people, hosting the Warriors … The stage was perfect and Memphis rounded it out with its 10th consecutive victory. It was a tough game, one of a level in which the Tennessee team showed that they are not much more reality than chance to defeat one of the best teams in the NBA.

As usual – we’ve gotten spoiled – Ja Morant led the way for the Grizzlies with a great performance. His were 29 points and 8 assists. It was a great duel he had with Stephen Curry, who had a triple-double of 27 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Both had their moment, but the final smile was drawn on Morant as he led his team to victory 116-108.

We live an encounter that is as broken at times as it is equaled at others. Memphis started better, and proof of this is that by the middle of the second quarter they were up to 18 points. Another night it would have been enough for them to play with such income to navigate to victory, but Golden State is not a team that allows itself to be defeated in simplicity. Steve Kerr’s boys pressed and 12 minutes later it was they who dominated by eight (66-74). They seemed to have done the most difficult, but if they reacted before, Memphis was not going to be less. Taylor Jenkins’ boys equalized the score and there was barely any margin in favor of one or the other until they managed to lift off nine points up with 3:34 minutes to play. The Warriors managed to get within three points, but the locals were not surprised and Morant resolved with five points in the last minute.

I just like having that pressure. I feel like that’s when I shine the brightest. I like to be the one who takes that shot, hit or miss, “says the point guard about taking responsibility for the decisive shots.

Morant was very well accompanied by Ziaire Williams and Tyus Jones, who both went to 17 points. The former had his best performance of the season, while Jones was key with his 3s by signing a five of five.

14 points for Thompson

As on the day of his debut, Klay Thompson was on the track for 20 minutes. This time he was the Warriors’ second leading scorer with 14 points (5 of 13 from the field goal) to which he added three rebounds and three assists. They also had a good night Andrew Wiggins and Gary Payton Jr. with 13 points, the second from the bench.

After the clash, Steve Kerr stressed that his boys were capable of fighting for the victory against what he defines as the best team in the competition. “It was a great game with two of the best teams in the league. They are currently the best team in the league and we gave ourselves a chance to win, we just didn’t play well enough to get it, ”he concludes.
