The German men’s 7-a-side rugby national team went unbeaten into the semi-finals of the second European Championship tournament. The selection of the German Rugby Union (DRV) won game three against Belgium 12:10 in Kraków on Saturday, followed by a 14:7 against France.
The team of national coach Clemens von Grumbkow, as the winners of group A, meets the second of the B relay, Portugal, in the semi-finals on Sunday. France and Spain will play in the second semi-final. In the first of two European Championship tournaments, the German team secured victory against Spain in the final in Lisbon.
Teams receive points based on tournament placement. After the two rounds these are added and the European champion is crowned. In 2019, Germany secured the men’s European title for the first time by beating Spain.
