German team of 7 in Malaga in eleventh place

Germany’s Rugby 7s men finished the World Rugby Sevens tournament in Malaga in eleventh place, shared with Scotland.

In the end, the team of national coach Damian McGrath suffered a 19:27 defeat against Wales after a poor performance and thus missed out on a better placement.

While McGrath admitted the “disappointing end to the tournament”, he was overall satisfied with the three-day performance in Spain.

“As an invitation team at this high level, we drew attention to ourselves with strong performances and showed what kind of rugby we can play,” said the 64-year-old Englishman.

Next weekend, the DRV selection is represented again as a replacement at the World Sevens tournament in Seville.
