German team flies to second place in Zakopane

The German ski jumpers took second place in the team competition in Zakopane, Poland, making amends for the heavy defeat in Bischofshofen.

Made up of Severin Freund, Stephan Leyhe, Markus Eisenbichler and Karl Geiger, national coach Stefan Horngacher’s team was only beaten by Slovenia. The Japanese (third), Austrian (fourth) and Norway (fifth place), which were also highly traded, ended up behind Germany this time.

Geiger in particular jumped strongly, jumping 135.5 and 137 meters. Eisenbichler shone in the second round when he managed a 141.5 meter flight. Last weekend, Germany’s jumpers were clearly behind, both individually and in teams.

Before the start of the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing (February 4th to 20th), there are still two home games in Titisee-Neustadt and Willingen. On Sunday (4:00 p.m.) there will be a singles event in Zakopane, which will also be important for the Olympic nomination.
