The three-time Olympic champion Michael Jung is riding towards a successful title defense at the German Eventing Championships in Luhmühlen.
Behind the non-competitive William Coleman from the USA with Chin Tonic, last year’s winner from Horb with Highlighter took second place after the dressage.
Third place went to Dirk Schrade from Heidmühlen with Kasino. In seventh place, former world champion Sandra Auffarth from Ganderkesee also kept her chances of winning with Rosveel. The pre-decisive cross-country test will be held on Saturday (12:50 p.m./NDR).
Olympic champion Julia Krajewski from Warendorf and Ingrid Klimke (Münster), who is starting at the same time in Barborowsko, Poland, have not registered for the national title fights.
