German beach handball players win world titles

One year after winning the European Championship, the German beach handball players have also crowned themselves with the World Championship. Coach Alexander Novakovic’s team beat Spain 2-0 in the final of the World Cup in Greece on Sunday, completing a perfect tournament without losing a set.

It was a draw after both sets. The DHB selection secured the triumph with two golden goals, which continued an impressive series: Since July 2021, the start of the European Championship, the team has celebrated 18 wins in a row, 16 times it was 2-0 in the end.

“Winning the World Championship a year after the European Championship is a fantastic success. I congratulate the team, coaches and everyone who made this gold medal possible,” said Andreas Michelmann, President of the German Handball Federation: “For German beach handball it’s a Milestone.”
