As the second Formula 1 team after Aston Martin, Ferrari has published its schedule for the presentation of its new racing car.
The traditional team from Maranello simply reported on social media: “Note: The countdown has begun.” Then followed the date February 17, 2022. So at the time of the January 17 announcement, the car launch is still a month away.
Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto had already declared in December 2021 that his team wanted to show Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz’s new car to the public “mid-February” 2022. Ferrari is sticking to this plan.
However, the oldest Formula 1 team is not in “pole position” with its date: Aston Martin will unveil its new vehicle on February 10th, a week before Ferrari. The other teams around Mercedes and Red Bull have not yet commented on their plans.
So far, Ferrari has been silent on the name of the new Ferrari. In 2021 Leclerc and Sainz started with the SF21 model, before that the Ferrari racing cars in Formula 1 were called SF1000, SF90 and SF71H. But one thing is already clear: “Mission Winnow” will disappear as a sponsor from the vehicle, but the Spanish bank Santander will be making a comeback as a Ferrari partner.
Ferrari has already passed the obligatory crash tests before the start of the season with the new Formula 1 car.
