Former ski star Vonn looks back wistfully on his career

Former world-class ski racer Lindsey Vonn looks back wistfully on her active career.

“I miss the pressure. I miss being at the top of the starting gate, being well prepared. I’ve always loved these situations,” said the 37-year-old American in an interview with “Welt am Sonntag”.

The most successful ski racer to date, with 82 World Cup victories, ended her career in 2019. “I’ve done this sport my whole life and I’d still be in it if I could physically,” said the downhill specialist.

Looking ahead to the Beijing Winter Games, which begin in about three weeks, Vonn said she was sad not to compete.

“The Olympic Games have inspired me my whole life. That will never change.” Nevertheless, she will share the excitement with her teammates. Vonn himself won downhill gold in Vancouver in 2010.
