Coach Urs Fischer from the Bundesliga club Union Berlin regretted the change of defender Marvin Friedrich before the duel against TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky).
The 26-year-old was “a bank,” Fischer said at a press conference on Thursday: “Of course, this departure hurts.”
Friedrich was a “leading player”, emphasized Fischer: “But it is important to forget about this departure. We have players who can absorb it. We trust those who are there.”
On Tuesday, the Köpenickers announced the transfer of the defender to Borussia Mönchengladbach with immediate effect. Fischer is generally not “frustrated” about the change: “It’s a compliment for everyone that we’re doing a lot of things right”.
Fischer expects a “difficult game” against Hoffenheim. Among other things, he has to do without Rick van Drongelen. The defender is in isolation after a positive corona test, confirmed Fischer.
