First Corona case in the German team

At the World Athletics Championships in Eugene there is the first Corona case in the German team.

Walker Christopher Linke is in quarantine after a positive test and cannot compete in the 35-kilometer walk on Monday night.

“Unfortunately, my last night wasn’t that pleasant, so I tested myself as a precaution. Unfortunately, the test was positive,” said Linke, according to a statement from the German Athletics Association. Another test by a doctor was also positive.

Linke dropped out of a difficult 20-kilometer race to save himself for the 35-kilometer course and had hopes of a podium finish. “Of course I’m super disappointed, but I can’t help it. I just don’t have the luck to win the medal again and again,” he said.
