World football’s governing body FIFA has lifted the suspension of the national federation of Pakistan (PFF).
As FIFA announced on Thursday, the PFF’s Normalization Committee has regained full control of the association’s premises and is in a position to manage finances. As a result, the decision was made.
Pakistan’s association was suspended by FIFA in April last year. The world governing body had punished the takeover of the headquarters of the PFF in Lahore by a group of demonstrators and the dismissal of the Normalization Committee set up by FIFA.
According to a FIFA statement, if the latter were again prevented from fulfilling their mandate, they could be suspended again or further sanctions could be imposed. The deadline by which the normalization commission should have fulfilled its mandate is no longer realistic. Accordingly, this was extended from June 30, 2022 to June 30, 2023.
