Earlier in the week, Scuderia Ferrari announced it would officially unveil its new car for the 2022 Formula 1 season with an online event in Maranello on February 17 – a week before the first pre-season test in Barcelona, Spain.
However, there are indications that Ferrari may not show up in their final livery until the second pre-season test, which begins on March 10 in Bahrain.
Background: Formula 1 is currently finalizing its advertising plans for the two pre-season tests, with only the second test likely to be televised. With this in mind, there is a rumor that the teams will only reveal their final colors at the second test in Bahrain.
Rumor has it that the Ferrari, which will be on display at the Barcelona launch and on the track, will be finished in a red very similar to last year’s SF21. From the second test, the team will then adjust their colors.
Ferrari: What does the paint job look like?
The guess is that the livery for the 2022 season will be rather dated and therefore darker, perhaps in reference to the company’s 75th anniversary. The much-lauded color choice chosen by Ferrari at Mugello in 2020 to mark the 1000th Grand Prix could be an inspiration for these plans.
The car, which has yet to receive an official designation, is said to feature some radical concepts as well as an improved power unit. The plan is for its launch to take place a few days before the flight to Barcelona. On February 22 – the day before the start of the test – there will be a shakedown.
Ferrari enters this year with an unchanged driver line-up consisting of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz and will look to fight back to the top from third place in the 2021 Constructors’ Championship.
