FC St. Pauli saves a draw against Erzgebirge Aue, but fears for first place

Promotion aspirant FC St. Pauli has lost important points again in the 2nd Bundesliga and has to worry about the lead in the table.

The Kiezkicker saved at least a 2:2 (1:1) against Erzgebirge Aue with a last-minute goal from Etienne Amenyido (90+3).

For the team coached by Timo Schultz, who had extended his expiring contract during the week, it was the third game in a row without a win.

Chaser Darmstadt 98 is only two points behind and can take first place with a win against Karlsruher SC (8:30 p.m. / Sky). St. Pauli has been at the top since the beginning of October and ten match days.

Aue shocks superior St. Pauli twice

On Saturday Ben Zolinski (17th) scored with the first real offensive action for Aue, the initially superior Hamburger equalized through Jakov Medic (30th). Nikola Trujic (72nd) gave the now improved guests the lead again in the second half.

In between, Aue’s strong goalkeeper Martin Männel had kept the guests in the game several times, he defused good chances from Jackson Irvine and Marcel Hartel immediately before the break.

The hosts put pressure on in the second half as well, but they lacked the ideas and the accuracy of passes against the increasingly stable defensive guests. After the lead for the Saxons, there was not enough of the favorite.

Remarkable: Aue goalscorer Trujic was substituted again 17 minutes after his substitution. He was just before the yellow-red card.
