FC Schalke | Loan player Pieringer expresses a clear S04 wish

The five starting XI appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga for FC Schalke 04 are offset by twelve substitutions: Marvin Pieringer is the top joker at Royal Blue and has scored two goals in his first Schalke season so far. In the second half of the season, the striker wants to become even more important for S04, as he now emphasized.

“Things have developed well for me personally in the past few weeks – goals also help, of course. Now I hope it will continue like this,” said the 22-year-old in an interview with “West German General Newspaper“.

Should the native of Metzinger succeed and get even more minutes of play for the royal blues, he also hopes to stay on after the summer. That is when the previous loan deal with Pieringer ends, who is then under contract with SC Freiburg for another year.

He used to play in the second team at the Breisgau-Klub when they were still in the Regionalliga Südwest. The breakthrough in the Bundesliga has so far been denied to the offensive man.

“I feel extremely comfortable here and I hope to be able to play at Schalke for a while,” Pieringer made no secret of the fact that he would like to continue playing for S04 after the 2021/2022 season.

Bundesliga promotion with FC Schalke as a “big dream”

The fact that the Gelsenkirchen team definitely want to return to the top flight is also clear to the Metzinger: “For me personally, promotion is the clear goal. I definitely want to play in the Bundesliga next season. That’s my big dream.”

Until then, the race to catch up in the second division should continue. Before the 21st game day, the Knappen are in fourth place in the table, three points behind a direct promotion place.

Next Saturday (from 1:30 p.m.) the home game against Jahn Regensburg will continue. After the bitter 4-1 defeat in the first half of the season, Schalke are keen to make amends: “We definitely want to win the game. The clear defeat from the first leg gives us additional motivation. We want to show that we can do better,” explained attacker Pieringer to.
