FC Schalke 04 talent kicked out of the squad

In the 2018/19 season, Nassim Boujellab made the leap from youth to the professional squad at FC Schalke 04, where he was able to record 34 competitive games (1 goal/1 assist) in the following years. However, since the absolute breakthrough did not materialize, a loan in 2021/22 should ensure more match practice – an own goal!

In eight games for FC Ingolstadt this season, Boujellab has only played 193 minutes, and the ex-Moroccan international is miles away from a positive development. To make matters worse, there seem to be disagreements away from what is happening on the pitch. Now the FCI pulled the ripcord.

“We are terminating the employment relationship with Nassim Boujellab with immediate effect. The player repeatedly violated internal club and team rules and regulations,” announced the Ingolstadt team on Sunday evening on Twitter. The Schanzer did not say what the 22-year-old was actually guilty of. The player has not commented on social media either.

Over 100 games for the youth of FC Schalke 04

What the near future of the midfielder looks like is also still unclear. His loan contract does not end until June 20, 2022. It is unclear whether Boujellab will return to FC Schalke 04 or at least remain a formal FCI player until the end of the contract. It is also conceivable that S04 will find a new loan buyer on the home stretch of the winter transfer window.

Either way, it seems clear that Boujellab’s career is at an impasse. Born in Hagen, he played over 100 games for the FC Schalke 04 juniors. This was followed by 34 appearances for the Royal Blues and now eight brief appearances for FC Ingolstadt. The trend is clearly downhill.

Another pointer: Morocco decided not to nominate the three-time international for the current Africa Cup of Nations.
