FC Schalke 04 | Promotion keeper Fraisl reveals: Players trust Kramer

Martin Fraisl was promoted directly with FC Schalke 04, but the goalkeeper is no longer part of the royal blue team. The Austrian is still in close contact with his ex-colleagues and knows how the S04 pros feel about their new head coach Frank Kramer.

Martin Fraisl only observes what is happening at FC Schalke 04 from a distance. The goalkeeper’s contract with the miners was only limited to one year, and despite the promotion, the club did not extend the working paper. “I’m still extremely close to the team,” revealed the 29-year-old to “Sport Bild”.

Fraisl can therefore feel “how great the trust in Frank Kramer is” – regardless of the many doubters in the Schalke environment. “I don’t think much of all the prejudice anyway, you should judge him after 100 days at the earliest,” he added.

However, the goalkeeper did not want to make a prediction about where his former club will end up in the 2022/23 season. For the time being, “the final squad would have to be determined”. Similar to the relegation a year ago, the Revierklub is turning its team upside down this summer. Alexander Schwolow, for example, who was loaned out by Hertha BSC, was chosen as Martin Fraisl’s successor.

Ex-Schalke Fraisl wants a single-digit place in the table

“I believe that the new Schalke will be better with the mentality and the solidarity with the fans than in the relegation season – even if the individual quality will be lower,” Fraisl looked to the future. As an optimist, he would like a “single-digit place in the table. I think the club officials would be satisfied with 15th place.”

In the opinion of the keeper, the Schalke squad planning should take an example from 1. FC Union Berlin. The people of the capital are a “role model” and have impressively demonstrated how you can “permanently perform in the Bundesliga”.
