The longtime Schalke manager Rudi Assauer is to receive a memorial on the Schalke fan field.
This was confirmed by the managing director of the Gelsenkirchen Beckhausen-Sutum Cemetery, Ender Ulupinar, who was thus fulfilling a wish from Assauer’s daughter Katy.
The newspapers of the “Funke Mediengruppe” had previously reported about it. The ceremony for Assauer, who died in 2019 at the age of 74, is scheduled to take place on April 30, his birthday.
It is about a memorial and not about a reburial, emphasized Ulupinar, who also pays for the costs of this memorial.
“Rudi will get the grave of honor 04,” said Ulupinar of the “German Press Agency” on Monday. Katy Assauer had previously made the wish public on the third anniversary of her father’s death on social networks.
“I would like to create a place of remembrance for you in this very special place, which you have always wished for and which will do you justice. A place where people can think of you and also visit you in the central circle.”
