FC Bayern “simply good”, Kohfeldt struggles with a draw against Hertha BSC

After BVB’s victory on Friday evening, FC Bayern also won their game on Saturday. On the other hand, there was no winner between VfL Wolfsburg and Hertha BSC in the crisis duel. These are the votes for the 19th matchday:

1. FC Cologne – FC Bayern Munich 0:4

Steffen Baumgart (Coach 1. FC Cologne): “Bayern did very well in all situations. We weren’t able to take advantage of the situations that presented themselves. You have to say very clearly that we met a very, very good Bayern team, we didn’t have a trick in the end and left the field as deserved losers. You don’t see me as dissatisfied because overall we’re on the right track.”

Julian Nagelsmann (Bayern Munich coach): “It was important to restore the six-point lead. Against a team who are having a very good season and are very courageous. We had good control and were always able to create goals. Score four goals and Not getting one is just good and important for us.”

VfB Stuttgart – RB Leipzig 0: 2

Pellegrino Matarazzo (VfB Stuttgart coach): “It was a good performance, unfortunately we didn’t score any goals and we didn’t score any points. We had a unit on the pitch against a good opponent. The goalkeeping performance on the opponent’s side was strong. It wasn’t all good, but it’s only a matter of time , until we’re good enough to get points again.”

Domenico Tedesco (RB Leipzig coach): “We’re happy with our first away win since April. It means a lot to us. We needed a real effort. VfB played bravely. It was difficult to press with two strikers. We did better in the second half, I think “The way we win is important. Peter Gulasci’s performance was very good, he kept us in the game.”

Union Berlin – TSG Hoffenheim 2:1

Urs Fischer (Coach Union Berlin): “We had the moments on our side today, but we needed them too. The fact that we didn’t have the ball pressure that much had to do with Hoffenheim in particular. You could see the quality of this team. In the end there was passion and determination, And we also needed the support of the 3,000 spectators, they carried us to victory.”

Sebastian Hoeness (TSG Hoffenheim coach): “We got on well. We made it 1-0, which should actually give you confidence in a game like this. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for us. It was 1-1 pretty quickly, that wasn’t good for us, the game was open after that. I can’t fault the team much in the second half, we had a lot of control but lacked determination in the final shot.”

VfL Wolfsburg – Hertha BSC 0:0

Florian Kohfeldt (coach VfL Wolfsburg): “We had 30 dominant minutes, three great chances – we deserved the win. We took a step forward with the performance that was not enough to break free.”

Tayfun Korkut (Hertha BSC coach): “It was a 0-0 draw that both teams have to live with. We got into the game with difficulty and had to overcome a few moments. We played with more control in the second half, but we weren’t consistent enough.”

FSV Mainz 05 – VfL Bochum 1:0

Bo Svensson (FSV Mainz 05 coach): “It was a good early phase for us, then Bochum were better and more agile. It would have been deserved if they had taken the lead from the penalty spot. We discussed a few things at half-time, we came out better and then we were the ones better team. We’re just happy to have won a very close and balanced game and are happy with the three points.”

Thomas Reis (coach VfL Bochum): “All in all, we could have done better in the first half, and Mainz deserved the win in the second half. In the second half, we let ourselves be plucked up a bit and Mainz put more pressure on it. Still, the goal we conceded is annoying . We just have to wipe our mouths now. I think we’re ready for Tuesday.”

Borussia Dortmund – SC Freiburg 5:1

Marco Rose (Borussia Dortmund coach): “The first half was really strong, that was great. We did a lot of things right and well today. After the 3-0 win, I would have wished that we’d gone through with it. Last year we were still talking about the Bundesliga getting boring – and rightly so, because we weren’t on an equal footing. Now we’re on three points. We always say that we’d like to bring the trophy to Dortmund. But Bayern are having an excellent season and don’t give away much. It’s about that we take care of ourselves.”

Christian Streich (Coach SC Freiburg): “We didn’t get into the duels today, Dortmund played it well. It wasn’t enough in the first half, there was a lack of courage. That was just a bad game from us. It’s extremely disappointing that we’re acting like that .”
