FC Bayern sets pain threshold for prank candidates

With the signing of Omar Richards, FC Bayern caused a surprise last summer. But it is possible that the left-back will leave the record champions after just one season.

According to information from the newspaper “Het Nieuwsblad”, there is now at least one other interested party for the 24-year-old. The Belgian first division club Royal Antwerpen should strive for the defender.

According to the report, Munich could also make friends with a farewell to the supplementary player. However, the record champions are demanding around twelve million euros for Richards. Antwerp is currently not willing to pay this sum. However, the Belgians still hope that FC Bayern will make concessions.

It’s not the first farewell rumors surrounding Richards. In mid-June, the left foot was also traded at VfB Stuttgart. According to the “kicker”, the Englishman should be a serious option for the Swabians.

“Sky” had already reported that FC Bayern was willing to talk to Richards, and that a loan could also be considered. The full-back has been on an internal strike list since March, according to the TV station.

Richards moved to the Isar on a free transfer from English second division side FC Reading in the summer of 2021. But even with his commitment there were doubts.

Richards never arrives at Bayern Munich

Actually, the perspective player should solve the bottleneck on the defensive flanks, according to the plan of sports director Hasan Salihamidzic.

But for long stretches of the past season, Richards turned out to be just a follower. For Bayern Munich he was only five times in the starting XI in the Bundesliga. He completed the majority of his twelve appearances as a substitute.

A sale would also be quite manageable for Bayern. As a representative of the seeded Alphonso Davies, there are definitely alternatives in the Bayern squad.

Josip Stanisic filled this role in the past, although the youngster is actually a trained right-back. Central defender Lucas Hernández can also play on the flank.
