Goal scorer Lea Schüller from FC Bayern Munich has been voted Germany’s “National Soccer Player of the Year”.
In a poll of users at dfb.de, the 24-year-old prevailed with 36.2 percent of the almost 13,000 votes cast, according to the German Football Association.
Schüller played eleven of the national team’s twelve international matches in 2021, scoring eleven of the 42 German goals. In the 5: 1 in the World Cup qualifier against Serbia, she scored four times. Goalkeeper Merle Frohms from Eintracht Frankfurt came in second, ahead of midfielder Sara Däbritz from Paris Saint-Germain.
