FC Bayern or FC Barcelona in pole position? Chelsea star makes first decision

For a long time, national player Antonio Rüdiger from FC Chelsea was considered the preferred candidate for FC Bayern if Niklas Süle did not extend his contract. But now his teammate Andreas Christensen seems to be in the running. The former Gladbach star has apparently already made a decision.

The reigning Champions League winners have presented both central defenders with new contract offers, but both players are currently exploring the market.

As transfer expert and “Sky” reporter Fabrizio Romano now reports on Twitter, at least Andreas Christensen has made an initial decision. The Danish national player is said to have decided not to move within the Premier League due to his respect for Chelsea.

That’s why FC Bayern and FC Barcenlona should be in pole position in the competition for the 25-year-old central defender. Romano had already announced on Friday that both the German record champions and the Catalans should be interested in the Dane. According to Romano, a decision should follow soon.

Christensen is no stranger to the Bundesliga: the central defender played on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach between 2015 and 2017. At the time, the Foals wanted to sign the international, but the Blues vetoed it.

FC Bayern: Andreas Christensen could replace Niklas Süle

At the current Bundesliga leaders, Christensen could replace Niklas Süle, who according to “Sport Bild” has already been shown several options for an extension. The central defender is still hesitating and wants to take his time with his decision.

According to the report, those responsible at Munich are therefore more likely to expect a free transfer in the summer. In recent weeks, Süle has repeatedly been associated with Premier League clubs.
