FC Bayern Munich has extended the contract with midfielder Torben Rhein by three years until 2025 and has loaned the 19-year-old to the Austrian Bundesliga promoted SC Austria Lustenau for the coming season.

“We are pleased that Torben has extended his contract and has committed himself to FC Bayern for another three years,” said Bayern campus manager Jochen Sauer, according to the club’s announcement.

The Munich team would closely monitor the development of their hopes for youngsters in Austria, said Holger Seitz, sporting director at the FCB campus.

Rhein moved to Munich from Hertha BSC in 2017 and then went through all the youth teams in the youth academy. Last season, the U19 national player made 18 appearances with the FCB amateurs in the Regionalliga Bayern.
