FC Bayern is remodeling the Allianz Arena

In order to be as ready as possible before the start of the Bundesliga season at the beginning of August, renovation work is currently being carried out at various points in the FC Bayern stadium. Because the Allianz Arena is expecting a very special highlight towards the end of the year.

FC Bayern will start the new Bundesliga season on the weekend of August 5th to 7th, 2022. Then coach Julian Nagelsmann’s men prepare to become German champions for the eleventh time in a row. The fans are already looking forward to the start and are looking forward to sold-out and high-scoring games in the Allianz Arena at home.

But in 2022, not only FC Bayern should cause a sensation in the stadium, which can accommodate over 75,000 spectators. Because on November 13, the North American professional football league NFL will be making a guest appearance in the Allianz Arena. A regular season game will be played in a German stadium for the first time: the game is Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Seattle Seahawks.

Since the FC Bayern stadium is actually only designed for football, a number of changes are currently being made to the round. Among other things, excavators have already begun to dig a hole about five feet deep three meters behind the goal line in order to be able to securely anchor the field goals that are needed in American football.

Cover plates planned during FC Bayern home games

During FC Bayern home games, the newly created attachment points are to be covered with cover plates covered with grass. In addition, the undersoil heating has to be expanded due to the longer playing field required in the NFL. Preparations are already underway here as well.

There are also changes in the team areas inside the stadium. While “only” around 20 players per team have to be taken care of on Bundesliga match days, the NFL teams have up to three times as many. Therefore, among other things, additional showers are installed.

Until the kick-off takes place in mid-November, there will be more work on the stadium, as FC Bayern announced on the club’s website. The international break in September should be used for the next big changes.
