FC Barcelona have signed Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessié.
The 25-year-old professional is moving from Italian soccer champions AC Milan on a free transfer and will sign a contract on Wednesday until June 30, 2026, the Spanish club announced. A transfer clause of 500 million euros should be stipulated in the contract, it said.
Kessié is Barca’s first reinforcement of the summer. According to the media, the commitment of Danish defender Andreas Christensen, who is without a club after his contract with Premier League club FC Chelsea expired, is also considered certain.
The Catalans, who are in debt with 1.35 billion euros, have recently opened up several sources of income.
Club boss Joan Laporta hopes to use the money to bring in several stars, including Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski, Leeds United striker Raphinha, Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva and Sevilla FC defender Jules Koundé.
