Former Bundesliga professional Dante sees hard times ahead for Niklas Süle at FC Bayern because of his permanent move.
“There is a small risk, if his performance is not right, that the talk will start immediately about ‘He’s already gone with his head and is thinking about his new club’. But I think Süle will stay focused. But it can will also be difficult for him,” explained the Brazilian “Sport1”-Interview.
Süle lets his contract with the record champions expire in the summer. It is still unclear where the 26-year-old national player will continue next season. A move to the English Premier League seems most likely.
“I didn’t understand Süle’s decision. That came as a surprise,” said Dante. “Many players want to wear the FC Bayern shirt.”
“Internal problems” at FC Bayern?
Süle’s plans for the future are not about money, added the 38-year-old, who played for FC Bayern between 2012 and 2015 and now laces up his football boots for the French first division club OGC Nice. “I think there were internal problems with the bosses. Times have changed at Bayern too.”
He’s not worried about Munich’s not always solid defense, said Dante, “because the quality is still brutal. There were some problems, but you just have to look at the names playing at the back”.
In the hot phase of the season in spring, FC Bayern’s defense will “be in top form,” predicted the central defender.
Dante: Marco Reus has BVB “in his heart”
Dante sees Julian Nagelsmann’s work as Munich’s head coach extremely positively. “I’m a big fan of Nagelsmann and would have liked to train under him. He showed what he was capable of at Hoffenheim. That was crazy. He was so young and did everything like an old hand,” he enthused 202-time Bundesliga player, who also played for Borussia Mönchengladbach and VfL Wolfsburg in the German Oberhaus.
Dante explained: “Nagelsmann is awesome. His philosophy of football suits every club. He’s young and like a professor at the university. His lecture hall is the training ground. He always thinks what he can do better. He already does it Everything is very good. Nagelsmann always finds solutions to problems on the pitch.”
Dante also praised BVB captain Marco Reus, with whom he once played in Gladbach. “He has Borussia Dortmund in his heart. And he didn’t just look at the money. I think he could have left BVB, but he knows what he has in Dortmund and just stays there.”
