Robert Lewandowski once again lived up to his reputation as the best striker in the world in the 4-0 win against 1. FC Köln. The Polish superstar scored three goals and thus further increased his insane rate. A quota that is uncanny even for Lewandowski.
The three goals (9th, 62nd, 74th) by Robert Lewandowski against Cologne not only meant that FC Bayern are still enthroned at the top of the Bundesliga after 19 matchdays.
It was also the goals 21, 22 and 23 of the world footballer, who hopes to defend his title in the FIFA elections on Monday (7 p.m.). Also nominated are Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and PSG’s Lionel Messi.
While Lewandowski clearly leads the scorer list with his hat-trick, he is still in second place behind Bayern legend Gerd Müller in the ranking of the best Bundesliga snappers of all time. With now 300 goals Lewandowski cracked another magic mark.
New ennobles teammates Lewandowski
The FC Bayern attacker has apparently not yet really realized his quota himself, as he said after the gala against Cologne club media known. “The numbers are insane. I never thought I would score so many goals in the Bundesliga. With a bit of distance, maybe I can think about it a little longer and just be proud.” Müller, whose legendary goal record Lewandowski already grabbed last season, is 365 goals.
Captain Manuel Neuer once again emphasized how important the former Borussia Dortmund striker is for the German record champions: “We are happy and grateful that he is playing for us. He is a machine in the front of the box, holds the ball outstandingly and how completing the goals is unique.”
Lewandowski’s qualities also include the fact that he “worked a lot against Cologne” and “would like to initiate many attacks”.
