Erling Haaland examined in detail in the hospital

The severity of the injury to star striker Erling Haaland from Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund is still unclear. The BVB attacker was examined in detail in the hospital on Sunday.

“I can’t say anything yet. You have to wait for the investigation,” said BVB coach Marco Rose after the turbulent 3: 2 (1: 1) on Saturday in the league game at TSG Hoffenheim.

That examination took place on Sunday at the Knappschaftskrankenhaus in Dortmund, where Haaland, according to “Ruhr news“was examined for around 90 minutes. Borussia Dortmund’s team doctor Dr. Markus Braun was also present. Haaland had previously stayed at the Black and Yellow training ground.

For the 21-year-old it is the third muscle injury of the current season. At the end of September he missed three of his team’s games, a return to the pitch that was ultimately too early then led to problems with the hip flexor and thus to a break of several weeks. Borussia’s top player was only able to celebrate his comeback at the end of November.

BVB defender Meunier was also examined

In Dortmund’s lucky win against TSG Hoffenheim, Erling Haaland had to leave the field in the 63rd minute after grabbing his groin. The Norwegian had previously scored his 16th goal of the season (6th). Even after the examination in the hospital, BVB has not yet announced any information on possible downtime.

Good for BVB and Haaland: The Bundesliga is going into a short break, no games are scheduled for the coming weekend. Due to the corona pandemic, the World Cup qualifiers in Asia, Africa, South America, North and Central America and Oceania that were originally planned for August and September could not be scheduled. These will now be made up for.

“The break is actually not that inconvenient for us,” coach Rose had remarked: “Erling is ailing, Manu (Akanji too, editor’s note). That means being able to treat a few boys, but actually also training time to have.”

In addition to Erling Haaland, right-back Thomas Meunier was also examined in detail on Sunday. The Belgian missed the duel at TSG, and the 30-year-old also has muscular problems.
