Eisbären Berlin win DEL top game – big swatter for Nuremberg

The Eisbären Berlin won the top game at Red Bull Munich and thus extended their lead in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

Thanks to a strong first third, the defending champion prevailed 3-1 (3-0, 0-1, 0-0). After 40 games, the Berliners are nine points ahead of Grizzlys Wolfsburg, who have played two games fewer.

Frank Hördler (15th), international Marcel Noebels (17th) and Matthew White (20th) scored a comfortable lead in the final phase of the first half. Jonathon Blum scored the first goal (35th) for Munich, who are fourth after 36 games with 60 points.

Just two days after the surprise win against Wolfsburg (3:2), the Nuremberg Ice Tigers conceded their highest defeat of the season.

The Franconians, plagued by numerous corona cases, clearly lost 1:10 (0:3, 0:2, 1:5) at ERC Ingolstadt. Nevertheless, Nuremberg are in eighth place with 57 points and are clearly on the play-off course.
