Eintracht Frankfurt: Rangnick comments on Hinteregger-Aus

Ralf Rangnick, the new head coach of the Austrian national soccer team, reacted with understanding to the end of the career of central defender Martin Hinteregger.

“Martin informed me of his decision in a very personal message. The most important thing from my point of view is that he is doing well and he has the feeling that he has made the right decision for himself and his life,” said the Rangnick of the 64- Year-olds in conversation with “Sport Bild”.

Hinteregger recently surprisingly announced his end to Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt and as a professional footballer in general and wants to return to his homeland in Carinthia.

His working paper with the Europa League winner was then suspended, and the SGE complied with the request of the previous regular player and top performer to allow him to end his career.

National coach Ralf Rangnick had also planned to date with the defender, who had played 67 senior international matches for Austria in his professional career.

Ex-BVB star: Hinteregger “was not a yes man”

Ex-BVB star Kevin Grosskreutz was also understanding of the resignation of the 29-year-old Hinteregger. The 33-year-old, who retired from professional business two years ago, emphasized to “Sport Bild”: “If you have the feeling that you have to get out of professional sport, then maybe it’s better that you takes this step consistently.”

Referring to the person Martin Hinteregger, the 2014 world champion emphasized his regret that he will no longer be able to watch the opinionated footballer in the Bundesliga: “I thought he was a cool guy. He wasn’t a yes-man. […] We’re losing a real guy in the Bundesliga. He was someone who also made contact with the fans, who sometimes threw out a joke. That’s rare these days.”

Hinteregger played a total of 190 games in the German top flight for Borussia Mönchengladbach, FC Augsburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach, scoring 17 goals.
