Even without the 2014 world champion Mario Götze, Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt started the new season with a befitting victory.
The winner of the Europa League won 14-0 (6-0) against the Hessian district upper division club SV Nieder-Weisel in Butzbach.
Top newcomer Götze was rested in the one-sided game due to slight muscular problems. The guests took the lead against the eight-class amateurs after 39 seconds, the top scorers being Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Paciencia with three goals each.
Coach Oliver Glasner’s team made their first competitive appearance in the first DFB Cup on August 1 (8:45 p.m.) at second-division promoted team 1. FC Magdeburg.
