Duo gets more time for club search

Just a few days ago, it was said that six players who had already been sorted out should start training at FC Schalke 04 on Monday. But a duo will probably still be missing. It gets more time to search for a new club.

A total of six returnees will initially only be four: According to information from “WAZ”, fans of FC Schalke will only see a quartet on Monday, contrary to the announcement, which was loaned out last season.

Namely Rabbi Matondo, who was loaned to Cercle Brugge, Hamza Mendyl, who played for Gaziantep, Can Bozdogan, whose path continued with Besiktas in Istanbul and Levent Mercan, who was active in the Süperlig like Bozdogan, but for Karagümrük.

For the time being, those two players will be missing from whom the Revierklub probably expects the highest transfer fees among the sales candidates, and who are also top earners, namely Amine Harit and Ozan Kabak. The former was most recently at Olympique Marseille, while the latter tried his luck at Norwich City.

According to the report, both Harit and Kabak will have a little more time to take care of their future outside of Gelsenkirchen. If it doesn’t become concrete in the next few days with regard to a transfer, the midfielder and the defender should return to Schalke training for the first time on Thursday, according to the further plan.

FC Schalke 04 is not planning a second training group

However, the duo cannot hope for a permanent comeback any more than Matondo, Mendyl, Bozdogan and Mercan. There is “currently no back door” for all of the players mentioned, as sporting director Rouven Schröder emphasized before the weekend, they are to be sold in this transfer period in the summer. And preferably as soon as possible to save money.

As the “WAZ” has calculated, it will cost FC Schalke 04 around two million euros in salary costs if all players stay until shortly before the end of the transfer on September 1st.

However, there will not be a possible separate training group for the players who are on the hit list. You should train normally with the team.

Meanwhile, Schröder has no worries that Schalke could get stuck with one of the professionals. “I am convinced that we will solve things,” said the sporting director, but added: “On the other hand, if things are not solved yet, we have full respect for the players who have signed employment contracts with us. For some it’s quicker, for the other it takes a little longer.”
