Del Potro before returning to the ATP tour

Former US Open winner Juan Martin Del Potro is about to return to the tennis court after two and a half years.

The 33-year-old announced his comeback on the ATP tour for the home game at the Argentina Open next week in Buenos Aires. The organizers confirmed the participation of the former world-class player with a wild card.

Del Potro suffered a fractured kneecap at the ATP lawn tournament in the London suburb of Queen’s in the summer of 2019 and has not competed in an official match since. The South American had already been out for a long time last fall due to a serious knee injury. Later, Del Potro had to undergo multiple surgeries on his wrist.

During his career, Del Potro won 22 tournaments. The former world number three celebrated his last title so far in 2018 at the ATP Masters in Indian Wells, California.
