Due to another corona outbreak at the Grizzlys Wolfsburg, there is a short-term exchange of opponents in the German Ice Hockey League.
Since the originally planned game between the Augsburg Panthers and the Wolfsburg team cannot take place, the Iserlohn Roosters, who are actually not playing, step in on Friday evening as the new opponents of the Bavarian club.
The DEL announced this in a statement. There was still a catch-up game between Augsburg and Iserlohn, for which there was no date yet.
The Wolfsburg company announced “another major corona outbreak” on their website on Tuesday evening. They did not name numbers, the message only said: “Several people are affected.”
The city’s health department then stopped the grizzlies’ training operations up to and including Thursday and ordered further tests for Friday. The DEL therefore canceled at least the Wolfsburg game in Augsburg.
Last season’s runner-up only had to quarantine the entire team in the first half of January due to several corona cases.
“As a league, we have to sit down next week and make a plan for how we’re going to finish the season. We can’t always just react,” said Wolfsburg manager Karl-Heinz Fliegauf to the “Sportbuzzer” internet portal.
