While Tony Pollard supporters may be left perplexed, fantasy football gamers planning to select Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott this year just got some confidence.
Since last year’s perceived underwhelming season, Elliott has drawn a lot of criticism. This is in spite of the fact that he is the seventh-leading rusher despite having a partially torn PCL. Jerry Jones, the owner of the franchise, is now emphasizing the significance of Elliott’s contribution to the offence.
“Seriously, Zeke’s gotta be our feature, and he is our feature. We can feature him in a lot of different ways. … It’s critical that we make Zeke — because he’s capable of being that — really the focus of what we’re doing,” Jones said.
Well, yeah, but what about…
“Now then, Pollard, there’s plenty of room for Pollard. There’s plenty of room for Pollard when Zeke’s in there,” Jerry continued.
According to what we’ve been informed, Dallas’ real strategy is to utilize both runners. But it all begins with Elliott being the two-time NFL running champion.
Head coach Mike McCarthy expressed confidence in Elliott’s skills and offseason performance back in June. The Dallas Cowboys running back will have a bounce-back season, according to McCarthy.
“I think the biggest thing with Zeke is he’s completely healthy now and he’s had a tremendous offseason. He’s in top shape. At the end of the day, he’s an extremely instinctive, tough, smart football player, a great teammate. So, I think he’s definitely set himself up for that,” McCarthy said.
When honouring Elliott earlier this offseason, Cowboys All-Pro right lineman Zack Martin reflected on his tenacity during the turbulent 2020 season.
“Think back to 2020. Half of the offence is out and Zeke is still in there carrying the ball 20 times a game. So, we’ve got a lot of love on this team for Zeke, and we’re pumped to get him back going in the right direction. He loves this team and he gives everything of himself for this team,’ Martin said.
