Curious “contract banter” at BVB

With the help of fitness guru Shad Forsythe, Borussia Dortmund wants to get its squad in better physical shape and avoid extreme injury concerns like last season. But the American was still missing when BVB started training – and apparently because of his former club.

No team in the Bundesliga suffered more injuries than Borussia Dortmund last season. Hardly any player from the BVB squad was spared. Above all, muscle injuries were almost the order of the day for the runner-up.

No wonder then that the club management reacted. In the course of the separation from head coach Marco Rose at the end of May, not only his assistants Alexander Zickler and René Maric were dismissed. Fitness trainer Patrick Eibenberger also had to resign.

New “Head of Performance” for BVB

As his successor under the name “Head of Performance”, BVB steered a real luminary to the Ruhr area: Shad Forsythe.

The 49-year-old not only worked for many years on a fee basis for the German national soccer team, including at the successful 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.

Arsenal FC has also relied on the services of the American since 2014 at the behest of coaching legend Arsène Wenger.

The Gunners were reportedly reluctant to let Forsythe move to Dortmund.

BVB training start without Shad Forsythe

An indication of this: It is loud that Forsythe missed the start of training at BVB on Wednesday “Ruhr News” due to the fact that he is officially under contract with Arsenal until June 30th.

Forsythe is only allowed to start working for BVB from July 1st, i.e. this Friday. The newspaper writes of a “little contract banter”.

A well-known problem child crystallized on the first real training day in Dortmund. Emre Can had to skip the session, presumably because of muscular problems.
