Mainz coach Bo Svensson has been suspended for the next Bundesliga game after his fourth yellow card
FSV Mainz 05 coach Bo Svensson has been suspended for a game in the Bundesliga after his fourth yellow card.
The Dane was warned by referee Frank Willenborg in the 88th minute of the 1-0 win over VfL Bochum for complaining. Since the 2019/20 season, yellow cards can also be given to coaches. Four warnings automatically result in a one-game ban.
Svensson later spoke of a misunderstanding and referred to a dispute with the Bochum bank. The 42-year-old also said at the press conference after the game: “That’s not an excuse. It’s not a yellow card, it’s four – that’s not ideal.”
In the next game of Mainz at SpVgg Greuther Fürth he is not allowed on the bench and not in the dressing room.
