John Collins is close to a change of scenery. During the night of the draft he was negotiated without result, but this does not mean that his possible exit has cooled. According to Matt Moore of Action NetworkChicago Bulls is one of the teams that has shown the most interest in the player, with others such as the Boston Celtics and Sacramento Kings also on the list.
The positive part of getting a player like Collins is that with a stroke of the pen you ensure his stay in the team for at least the next three seasons, having to receive a total of 75 million dollars. It doesn’t seem like a bad deal for a 24-year-old player who has shown in Atlanta that he has the qualities to be important in any team.
Regarding the particular case of the Bulls, the truth is that for a long time there has been talk of the desire to reinforce the frontcourt; so much so that those from Illinois are considered one of Rudy Gobert’s greatest suitors. Regarding the Frenchman, there are more offices that would be happy to close the deal, but for now they understand that Danny Ainge asks too high a price.
Whether one or the other ends up arriving – or none of them – it seems clear that Chicago is going to move. A year ago Arturas Karnisovas incorporated DeMar DeRozan and Lonzo Ball (among others) being very aggressive. It would be rare that given the evolution of the team, the executive of the Illinois does not maintain the same line.
