Charlotte retains Cody Martin on a four-year deal

Cody Martin will continue to play for the Charlotte Hornets. The forward has closed a four-year contract with the North Carolina franchise and 32 million dollars that ensure his future in the team that chose him in the draft back in 2019; reports Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Without being a player highlightsAt 26, Martin has proven to be a more than useful player in the Hornets’ rotation. In his last season, the third and best of his still short career, he averaged 7.7 points, 4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals while playing 26.3 minutes per night. In addition, he took an important step forward in triples by hitting 38.4% of his attempts.

Martin’s renewal is the first market move for the Hornets hit by the Miles Bridges situation. The forward was arrested for domestic violence and later his wife shared images on social networks of how his face had been left (visibly beaten), also attaching medical reports on his injuries. this case of mistreatment can put an end to the career of Bridges, who seemed destined to sign a great contract in the current free agency. The Hornets will decline to withdraw the qualifying offer.
