After Marcel Lotka worked his way up to become the first-choice goalkeeper at Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga last season, the new BVB signing would also like to assert himself at Borussia Dortmund in the long term.
“Of course I want to be in goal for the first team in the Bundesliga in the long term, that’s why I came,” said Lotka in an interview with the “table football“.
First of all, the 21-year-old has to assert himself behind regular player Gregor Kobel and new signing Alexander Meyer, who came from Jahn Regensburg.
Lotka experienced a similar situation at Hertha BSC, where he was able to oust Alexander Schwolow from the box last season.
“It was a lot of fun,” said the Duisburg native, looking back: “It’s every footballer’s dream to play in the Bundesliga. Of course you can’t believe it at first, but then I became very aware of it on vacation.”
Transfer theater between Hertha BSC and BVB
After the change from Hertha BSC to BVB was announced in March, the Berlin Lotka initially tried to hold on. According to his own statement, the goalkeeper did not deal too much with the transfer theater.
“I didn’t think too much about it, I was fully focused on the relegation battle. That was enough stress. It was irrelevant. I’m happy to be here now,” said Lotka.
For the time being, the new signing is planned for BVB’s U23 team, with whom he has now completed a first friendly against Preussen Münster (1-1). Lotka made his comeback after breaking his nose. “I went into the game very confidently and didn’t notice any areas where I needed more time. Everything is the same as before,” assured the keeper, who can look back on ten Bundesliga appearances with Hertha BSC.
