BVB: Moukoko extension “not a sure-fire success” – consultant confirms interest from other clubs

Youssoufa Moukoko does not play regularly in his second professional season at Borussia Dortmund. As a result, a contract extension for the BVB youngster is by no means certain.

Also because of persistent injuries, Youssoufa Moukoko does not play a big role at Borussia Dortmund this season. The 17-year-old has played just 249 competitive minutes for coach Marco Rose’s team. In the meantime, Moukoko was absent with a torn muscle fiber as well as a muscle injury and inflammation.

In addition, the attacker has to face a lot of competition in the BVB offensive. Moukoko is currently unable to get past Erling Haaland and Donyell Malen, so staying beyond 2023 is not a matter of course.

“It’s not a matter of course that Youssoufa is extending BVB!” Moukoko’s agent Patrick Williams confirmed to “image“. The U21 national player’s working paper ends next year. The reason for the reluctance is the short playing time.

Consultant confirms interest in BVB professional Moukoko

“Yes, he has been thrown back a bit by injuries this season. Yes, the competition at BVB is of course big. But he hardly gets the playing time he needs in the current phase of his career in Dortmund,” added Williams: “Of course we’re thinking about what’s best for the future.”

At the same time, the player’s agent confirmed that other clubs are dealing with Moukoko. “Of course, many clubs are interested in Youssoufa, that’s no secret. The end of his contract in the summer of 2023 is getting closer, the top clubs have that on the list,” said Williams. Clubs from England and Spain are said to have positioned themselves. So BVB still has to do some convincing at Moukoko.
