BVB is said to find buyers for Roman Bürki

Roman Bürki has not played a role in the Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund for a long time. The search for a buyer has so far proved difficult. Now BVB was apparently able to find a new club for the keeper.

As the Turkish journalist Mehmet Özcan announces, Bürki joins the Istanbul club Galatasaray. Accordingly, the Swiss will be awarded to the record champions of the SüperLig until the end of the season.

At Galatasaray, Bürki should replace the goalkeeper and captain Fernando Muslera. The 35-year-old veteran has been out since mid-December with a knee injury. It is currently unclear when it will be operational again.

Bürki is tied to Borussia Dortmund until the summer of 2023. The BVB managers hope that the loan deal will bring the 31-year-old back into the shop window and allow him to be sold permanently in the summer.

The search for a buyer has so far proved difficult. After a series of rumors about Bürki last summer, there seemed to be a way out in the first French league: According to “Sky”, Ligue 1 record champion AS Saint-Étienne showed interest in the goalkeeper. The rumor also fizzled out.

BVB wants to save Bürki salary

The goalkeeper, who switched from SC Freiburg to BVB in 2015 but has now lost his regular place between the posts after almost seven years, has been considered a sales candidate for Dortmund for some time. The black and yellow are therefore only too happy to save the rumored annual salary of around five million euros.

In the current season, Bürki has not played a minute in a competitive game for Borussia. In the Dortmund goalkeeper hierarchy, the veteran has now slipped to third position behind Gregor Kobel and Marwin Hitz.
