Budapest takes over swimming world championships in 2022

Budapest is hosting the swimming world championships this summer.

After the title fights originally planned for Fukuoka in Japan this year were postponed to 2023 due to the corona, the Hungarian capital will step in as the organizer for this summer. The World Cup with competitions in pool swimming, open water swimming, water polo, diving and synchronized swimming is to be held from June 18 to July 3, according to the world association Fina.

Budapest already hosted the swimming world championships in 2017. Normally, the World Cup is held every two years. According to current planning, there are still three world championships to come before the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. Budapest and Fukuoka will be followed by Doha as host in January 2024.
