The boxing duel between ex-world champion Marco Huck and Agit Kabayel is to take place in front of spectators in the spring, Kabayel’s boxing stable SES announced.
The fight for the vacant EM in the heavyweight division was scheduled by the European association EBU in September. Due to the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, a major event has so far been ruled out.
“We quickly agreed, but the respective mind games and plans have been repeatedly slowed down at all levels of the framework conditions in recent months. This fight needs the big stage,” said SES promoter Ulf Steinforth.
Large arenas are in demand nationwide. The date is currently spoken of “beginning of spring”. “The fight is coming and I want to get in the ring as soon as possible to attack again,” said Huck.
The 29-year-old Kabayel was European champion from 2017 to 2019. Born in Leverkusen and living in Bochum, he has won all of his 21 professional fights. Opponent Huck was the WBO cruiserweight champion between 2009 and 2015. The Berliner has been fighting in the heavyweight division since 2018. The 37-year-old has fought 49 fights and won 42 of them.
