Bitter disappointment for DSV biathletes at the Röiseland Gala

Without Denise Herrmann and Franziska Preuss, the German biathletes also experienced a bitter disappointment at the end of the home World Cup in Ruhpolding.

When the Norwegian Marte Olsbu Röiseland won, Franziska Hildebrand had to settle for 20th place in the pursuit over 10 km. Vanessa Hinz was 26th, Vanessa Voigt took 28th place.

The outstanding Röiseland clinched her sixth win of the season three weeks before the start of the Olympic Games in Beijing (February 4th to 20th) with zero shooting errors in 30:55.0 minutes ahead of the Swedes Elvira (2/+20.8 seconds) and Hanna Öberg (1/32.4).

Hildebrand, 17th after the sprint, was 2:32.1 minutes behind after three penalties. Hinz (2/2:42.5) at least showed an upward trend. She had started from rank 60. After two penalties, Voigt was 2:54.3 minutes behind.

Herrmann focuses on the preparation

Herrmann, who was only a disappointing 24th in the sprint anyway, skipped the pursuit as planned. This was announced by the German Ski Association (DSV) shortly before the race. The focus is on a two-week build-up “including competition at height as a pre-load”. Front woman Franziska Preuss is missing due to the consequences of a corona infection. Previously, she had to sit out due to a foot injury.

Before the Winter Games in Beijing (February 4th to 20th), the dress rehearsal will take place in Antholz from January 20th to 23rd.
